3 reasons why what you see is not always what you get

Customers often wonder and ask why is it that the product they received is not exactly the same as pictured and/or described on our website. At Matr Boomie we take pride in knowing that our products are ethically handmade by artisan makers and where possible, made using sustainably sourced materials. Here are some reasons why what you see is not always what you get:

  1. Artisans work with materials available to them at any given point of time. Since many of these are up-cycled, cruelty-free and/or sustainably sourced they will often not be the same from one batch to the next. You may see “Assorted” for fabrics listed on our website or variations in wood and bone for this reason.
  2. Each product is painstakingly and responsibly handmade by artisan makers in India and because items are not mass produced factory models one could vary from another
  3. Due to the unique nature of each item we cannot list or picture all possible variations on our site

As our world becomes more and more mass-produced we are doing our best to preserve the craftsmanship and culture of the indigenous communities we work with. We believe that the uniqueness of and variation in each of our handmade items IS what makes them desirable and more luxurious to wear and have in our homes. We hope you will continue to join us in this journey so that next time you are at a party or at someone’s home you hear less and less “Oh I have that exact same bag/necklace…” and instead you are able to share the story of how you came about this hand crafted  item you love.
