Recently our partner agency gave us some encouraging updates on a project specifically supporting the vocational education of women and young women in one of the areas we work in. We are excited to share this news with you so you know exactly where your money is going when you spend it with us! A Professional Salon Training Course for Women began on Mar 1, 2022. Often women in low income areas experience socio-economic barriers to education and financial independence in general. 50% of the women in the course are school dropouts. The group of 16 range from 17-30 years of age and what they pay to sign up for the course is refunded to them upon completion.
Due to the pandemic and several lockdowns many online app-based salon services, providing home-based services to clients were on the rise. This created a market gap and the need for qualified beauticians. The primary goal of the project is to support these women in becoming fully certified and develop their skills so they can work in established salons or build their own businesses, moving a step closer to social and economic independence.
